ABBEY STADIUM PLANNING APPLICATIONS RESPONSE
Situation
Two planning applications to develop the Abbey Stadium for housing and commercial purposed have been submitted to Swindon Borough Council - these can be accessed via the following links:
Our Position
- No development of the Swindon Speedway track at the Abbey Stadium should proceed until the full construction and operational availability of replacement Speedway facilities at Studley Grange or elsewhere.
- Any further development at the Abbey Stadium, Blunsdon, Swindon, must be expressly contingent upon the completion of the new Speedway track at Studley Grange or elsewhere, and its readiness for Speedway racing.
- These requirements must be formalised as explicit conditions and legally binding obligations within any planning approvals or agreements relating to the Abbey Stadium site.
Call For Action
We call on all supporters to let their voices be heard.
We call on supporters to submit a comment on the Abbey Stadium planning applications via the Swindon Borough Council website as soon as possible - alternatively comments can be emailed to:
jrepper@swindon.gov.uk
Comments without planning reasons will be ignored.
We have prepared two forms (they can be accessed by clicking the file downloads below).
- The first form gives instructions on how to register on the website and submit an objection and comments for both of the planning applications
- The second provides planning reasons (NPPF 104) for objection based on the loss, and current lack of replacement, of the specific sporting and leisure facilities at the Abbey Stadium.
we urge you to use these to complete the comments section ON BOTH APPLICATIONS
***Please either copy and paste the contents of the downloaded guidance into the Planning Comment on each of the applications, or use it as guidance to submit your own version.***
